Where can I re-enbale tooltips? It is nonsense to disable such a important information for battery status! Also, I'm using Awn, I've removed all the gnome-panels and now my desktop has a lot more space. Awn also has a notification area applet which you can use as a replacement for the indicator applet, I think it supports tooltips.

Re: No Tooltips For Indicator Icons In Lucid

I prey for tooltips to come back. I still miss them very much after a month of using lucid. Even though I have got used to indicator-applet. This one thing makes me angry more and more. I have switched to linux not because I am able to modify it if I dare and still it is idiot-proof. Why there is no way to turn indicators on???

Re: Gimp lost it’s progressbar in Lucid

Oh great! Good icons can tell you the basic without a tooltip (think of different number of highlighted arcs in the wireless connection icon or different filling of the battery icon) and if I need to know more, I prefer to click then to wait with the mouse pointer. So yes, I think it's great.

BTW, I also like the position of the window buttons although I never had them there. But then I mostly use keyboard shortcuts anyway...

Re: No Tooltips For Indicator Icons In Lucid

Several icons, like power, have reduced functionality without tool tips. There is not an easy way to determine your power level without them.

Re: No Tooltips For Indicator Icons In Lucid

I expect tooltips an all the icons, they tell me what they are for. Tooltips are also an accessibility item, since icons are small, while tooltip font may be adjustable. So I vote to bringing back tooltips to panel icons.

Re: Switched to Xfce (Xubuntu)

Here you go: http://thundafunda.com/393/...

Re: Switched to Xfce (Xubuntu)

Where did you get the wallpaper?

Re: How To Install Grub2 On Ubuntu Jaunty

I had high hopes for the splash screen. The beauty of open source is that it can be changed. The pitfall is that there is little or no documentation on how to do so. I have tried making splash screens of all different types, but unfortunately I can't get it.

This info is helpful:
Resolution: 640×480 at 72×72 ppi
Colorspace: RGB
File Type: Targa (.tga)

But not enough.
